Maryann McFadden
While raising two children, Maryann McFadden spent ten years working as a freelance writer with articles in a variety of newspapers and magazines. She then left writing for nearly a decade and became one of Northwest New Jersey's top realtors. 
Her love of writing, however, never really left her.
Her first novel, The Richest Season, began as her thesis project when she went back to school for a Master's Degree. After 5 years of rejection, she self-published and sold so many copies and garnered such great reviews, that she landed a top literary agent, who sold the book at auction to Hyperion Books (ABC/Disney). It debuted in hardcover as an Independent Bookseller Pick and the paperback was chosen as a Target Breakout novel. It has since been translated into German, Italian and Spanish. Her second novel, So Happy Together, also debuted in hardcover as an Independent Bookseller Pick, with translation rights sold to Italy and Germany.
Maryann knows first hand the frustrations of having a good book, but never quite finding that right person to believe in it. She has found that in THREE WOMEN PRESS!

A few words from Maryann
When I was a self-published author, before my first novel, The Richest Season, was published by Hyperion books, I learned all aspects of the bookselling world. I was already familiar with the writing side of it. I began to speak about my experiences at book clubs and events, discovering that most readers have no idea of the mysterious, often perilous, journey a novel takes from the moment it begins in a writer's mind to when it eventually ends up in their hands.
Ironically, this book and I were also on a perilous journey, and it nearly didn't see print. Because it is such an honest look at the publishing world, most editors were uncomfortable with it. I was asked to "tone it down," but decided eventually that I didn't want to do that. I wanted to tell the very real story of what it's like to be a writer and a bookseller in today's world.
I hope you will fall in love with a little book store called THE BOOK LOVER and the amazing characters who call it home.
